In 2007 I attended a TD training course at Stratford Bridge Club run by John. I will always remember his encouraging and kindly way of teaching. On the last day all participants had to do a role play by giving rulings at the table. I was ok on the first 2 calls to the table. Then finally I got the dreaded 'opening lead out of turn.' Panicked a bit trying to remember the options in front of th table and the rest of the participants. All he said, again kindly,

"Oh, dear Louise. You have done so well but I'm afraid that you have fallen at the last fence." I'll never forget it. I thought I'd blown it. 

However, I did pass and received my certificate, thankfully.
